Symptoms of Inflammation in Vagina

Q: Hi, I have been experiencing an irritation, burn and itch in my vagina. I thought it could be a slight UTI. Then the symptoms increased with an additional rash around my vagina. It burns, itches and is unpleasantly uncomfortable. What could it be and how can I treat it?

Looks like some vaginal infection, STDs have to be ruled out.

The kind of infection would be diagnosed on the basis of the lesions and discharge, if any, from the vagina.

It is advisable to visit a doctor and get yourself examined. Then only, the appropriate treatment can be decided.

    Hello,
Upon completion of my period it seems like i get itchy or slightly irritated but no discharge…usually my husband and I are intimate right at the end of my period. My concern is how to know if it’s a yeast or bacterial vaginosis? Im 35 and have never been treated for either until a few months ago I experienced the same symptoms only a little discharge…lab results tested positive for bacteria in which I treated w antibiotics.
Just concerned it’s BV again and don’t know what to do or if I should go to the doctor again. Id prefer not to be on antibiotics again. How can I differentiate between vaginal itching associated w hormonal vaginal dryness or infection? Ive changed oral contraceptive to Vienva for about 7months now. I also implemented a women’s probiotic daily since being treated for Bv.
Also..is it possible that my body would cllean and heal itself? Thank you for your response as it’s causing some anxiety and loss of self confidence.

Update….itching is gone and I tested my pH which showed normal. I’m assuming if the previous treatment of antibiotics for BV, 3 months ago, needed to be extended that my Ph would be off?
Would you suggest irritation and itching is from dryness due to tampon use and hormones? Would I benefit using a vaginal moisture and lubricant such as Luvena?
