How to Identify the Symptoms of STD Lesions?

Q: I am a 21 year old woman. I have two small red bumps around my vaginal lips. The first bump appeared a month ago, a day after I returned from Mexico. I noticed the second bump about a week ago; it looks and feels the same as the first. It’s sometimes itchy and has a burning sensation at times. They are hard and do not seem to be blistering. My last STD check was about 8 months ago. I’ve been with the same person for 4 last years. From reading online, I think they are pimples but I would appreciate another opinion. Please help. I would like to know how to treat them quickly.

You need to observe them very closely. If they are mere pimples, they should subside gradually in a week or so. If they stay or show any changes, further evaluation would be required.

Symptoms of STD Lesions

Generally speaking, the initial symptoms of any STD, say genital herpes, for example, are very vague. One may just have some pain in the leg, buttocks or genital area.  A feeling of pressure or fullness in the abdomen may be felt. A few may have some itching and burning in the genital area.

Later, the glands of the groin may become swollen and systemic symptoms may be felt. These include muscle aches, fever, headache or pain with urine.

Thereafter, pimple like lesions appear, which converts into a blister. Blisters gradually form sores, which are very slow to heal.

If you have any of the above symptoms, visit your doctor at the earliest. Just be watchful about the lesion you have. Meanwhile, take care of the genital pimples by keeping it clean and dry.

Hi, I had sex for the first time about 3 years ago, and have recently started having sex with someone new. I was both their first time, and have had sex with no one but them. I have used protection every time.

I’ve had a small flesh colored lump, smaller than a pea towards the bottom of my vaginal opening, kinda towards my anus.

I was wondering if this was a cyst, STD and so on. This has been here for over a few months now. Please help.

It may be a cyst or a pimple, but it would be better to be observant and rule out the possibility of any STD.

Do you have any symptom like itching, pain, discharge etc.?

STD may give symptoms or even remain symptomless for months. So it is better to get screened from these conditions. Read here about screening STDs.

What can I do to make it stop and should I tell my momma. I’m only 16 BTW.

Firstly, avoid shaving till the pimples are alright.

Do warm compress over the pimples and apply a topical antibiotic cream like mupirocin over each pimple after the warm compress. You may do this for 3 to 5 days.

This cream is available over the counter at any big store.

I’ve never had sex, but I have the same symptoms as the above, does that mean I can still get it, if I haven’t had sex.

Though STDs do spread via non sexual modes, this is quite unlikely.

Just be observant about the lesions. If you feel they are not healing, it is recommended that you go for a check up.

There is something like a white large pimple on my vaginal mucosal area. I found it last day. Sometimes it itches and burns a bit specially while cleaning with water. What is it and how can I get rid of it?

This appears to be an infected pimple. If you are sexually active, you need to rule out the presence of any STD. For that, visit a doctor for examination.

If you are not active sexually, we may treat it as an infected pimple. It is likely to be filled with pus. Try doing warm compress over it. This would soften the skin above it and may drain the pimple gradually.

You may also start applying any topical antibiotic cream over the pimple.

You need to get examined by a doctor to rule out the possibility of STD.

This may be an infection. You may need medications for this.

I am 38 weeks pregnant and recently noticed bumps on the top of my vagina where I have been shaving. Could these be just razor bumps or just from pregnancy or something else? I have no itching or burning.
