Vaginal Lesions That May Bleed

Q: I went to the bathroom and saw a very little amount of blood down there. So I looked for the source of the blood, and on the outside of my lower vaginal area there was a pimple. It that had been irritated and began to bleed a little. I’m kind of freaking out. I have had pimples down there before. I’m anxious because I want to make sure that this is a pimple, and not anything else.

It’s very likely that it was a pimple that got irritated or injured. This could have happened while dressing up, or by friction during walking or any other activity.

You need to take care of it just like a wound. Keep it clean and dry. Apply topical antibiotics if you feel it has got infected.

The bleeding wound may be something else too. You need to rule out the following possibilities-

Genital Warts

These are soft growths on the skin or mucous membrane of the genitals. Such a growth may get injured and bleed.

The following features would be helpful in recognizing genital warts:

  • Warts are usually itchy.
  • They appear on damp areas.
  • You may notice it spreading. Look for any other growth in the nearby region.

STDs Like Syphilis

These may also give a pimple like lesion. These are painless in early stages. However, such illnesses give constitutional symptoms too. These include:

  • Fever
  • Malaise
  • Any enlarged lymph node in the groin area

If you find any suspicious sign that clues the wound was not an injured pimple, you may visit a doctor to get it diagnosed.

Hi, about 3-4 weeks ago I was shaving my private area. I noticed that I had these things that looked like pimples of some sort. I popped one and a lot of blood came out, but I’m used to having pimples outside my vagina and not inside and when I pop them only pus will come out. I’m worried about this thing and I hope to get an answer, they aren’t sore or anything but they are growing and spreading around. Please help.

Since your pimple like lesions are spreading, it is likely to be some infection. It is advisable to ruled out the possibility of any STD.

      Get yourself checked up.

For a pimple that has drained out, all you need to do is to keep the area clean and dry. Avoid friction over it.

If it pains, apply a topical antibiotic cream over it.

Likely to be a pus filled pimple. Since it has drained out on itself, nothing needs to be done. Just keep the area clean and dry. Avoid infecting nearby healthy areas by infected pus material.

Try repeated warm compress over them. This would soften the skin over them. Gentle removal may then be tried. However, do not force removal.

I HAVE WHAT LOOKS LIKE PIMPLE OR A CYST ON THE INSIDE OF THE OUTSIDE OF MY VAGINIA
THIS MORNING IT WAS BLEEDING. I AM ON WARFARIN. SO THE BLEEDING WAS HEAVY. iT STOPPED BLEEDING WHEN I APPLIED PRESURE AND FOUND OUT THAT WAS THE SOURCE OF TH E BLOOD
I APPLIED PETROLEUM TO THE AREA TO KEEP IT DRY FROM ANY URINE.

ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE HELPFUL.

Leave it undisturbed, so that it dries and heals well. Avoid friction over it while walking. Wear loose bottoms to let the area be ventilated and comfortable.

    hi

I had a small pimple between my vagina and anus which then multiplied to more water like pimples two days after sexual intercourse with my husband. Then the following day I was bleeding but not from the pimples, the bleeding also took a day what could be the cause of all these as the pimples have also dried now.

Just keep the region clean. Avoid friction over the pimple. Avoid squeezing it.

You may try warm compress over it twice daily to soften it. This may help draining it better. However, do not force drainage.

You may also start using an antibiotic ointment over it thrice daily.

For a year ot two I’ve had a bump filled with pus and blood show up and go away. It’s been growing again for at least two weeks and its gotten really big. I decided to pop it and blood came out. It hurts a lot. I can’t even wear underwear due to it rubbing against the bump. Should I have it checked out or should I leave it alone and apply a bandaid?

You need to try warm compress over it. This may help in gentle drainage. Also, start applying any antibiotic ointment over it thrice daily.

    Hello

A solitary lesion like this is more likely to be a pimple. Just keep the region clean and avoid friction over it. It’s likely to heal on its own with time.

Hi, i realized i had this red bump just on the vagina entrance and it hurts during intercourse (only at the beginning) and it’s also kinda uncomfortable when touched. At first white sticky discharge keep coming out so i thought it must be a yeast infection, however several days i have this light brown discharge and now it’s bleeding lightly. Is it yeast infection? (It’s odorless and not itchy)

This is unlikely to be yeast.

The red bump you mentioned may be a pimple and may be managed by applying a antibiotic cream over it. However, for the discharge, you need to see a gyne.

Likely to be a sebaceous cyst there. Just keep the area clean. You may start applying an antibiotic ointment over it for a week.

i’m 15 years old and not sexually active…
i noticed a large bump on the inside of my vagina yesterday and today i’m guessing it popped because there was a lot of blood and it became small… it really stings and it feels uncomfortable and achy whenever i press down on my stomach or around my vagina. I find it uncomfortable to talk to my parents about this but if you think i need to i will. should i go to the doctor?
