If you are being treated for depression, these medicines are not very appropriate.

Though Zyban is an anti-depressant, it is more commonly used for cessation of smoking. As an antidepressant, its actions are mild.

The active component of this medicine is bupropion hydrochloride. It would be risky to combine it with deanxit or any other medication.

As for deanxit, it is a psychoactive drug used it various psychiatric illnesses. It is not specific for depressions.

The drug is a combination of two components, flupentixol and melitracen. The latter component is still under research. So the medication is used very judicially under the advise of a specialist only.

Also, it is used only for short durations.

Standard Medications for Depression

Depressions are usually treated by one of the following group of drugs.

  • Selective serotonin re uptake inhibitors (SSRIs) like citalopram (celexa), paroxetine (paxil, pexeva), fluoxetine (prozac), sertraline (zoloft).
  • Tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) like amitriptyline (elavil), doxepin (adapin), imipramine (tofranil).
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)like phenelzine (nardil), tranylcypromine (parnate).

You may discuss with your doctor about the ineffectiveness of zyban and consider changing your medications.

It is advisable not to alter, increase or reduce any medication without consulting your doctor.

If we don’t use deanxit as it has more side effects, so which alternative drug should be used in depression with less side effects?

I had burning sensation in my pennis for last three months and my doctor says there is infection and need medication for six months. I have been given Aedepaxe (Flupentixol &Melitracen ) 02 doses and mahacef 02 doses per day. I heard the drug Aedepaxe is anti depression drug. Is it right for me and the same drug is not available now but my doctor is not able to recommend alternate to it. Can you suggest something for me?

Aedepaxe is an anti depressant medication. Are you having any symptom related to depression?

For the infection on your penis, keep taking mahacef (two doses), as per your doctor’s advice. Drink plenty of water throughout the day and stay physically active. This would help flushing off the infection faster.

There are safer drugs for depression. You may talk to your doctor about taking SSRIs, which are safer medicines, than aedepaxe, to treat depression. Read more on the topic in the above article.
