Any skin condition with symptoms like redness, itch etc. is medically called eczema.

There can be many causes for this.

Causes of Eczema

Food Allergy: Since the marks are not confined to a particular area, it appears to be a generalized reaction of the skin against some agent.

Like any other organ, our skin is also an organ and reacts to different stimuli. It is common for people to be allergic to certain food items like capsicum, cucumber, garlic, cheese, certain meat etc. You have to observe this yourself. Is it that you have this problem after a particular food?

Dryness– This is another factor which could have caused this reaction. Keep your skin clean and well hydrated. Apply any moisturizer liberally over your body.

Temperature changes– During rapid changing weather conditions, sensitive skins may react. Itchy spots appear all over the body. Anti- allergic medication is required.

Allergy against any newly tried detergent or soap.

Sometimes, after a throat infection, people get a generalized rash all over the body. This is nothing but our skin’s reaction against the bacteria or virus.

Management

You need to take some anti-allergic medication. Any over the counter anti-histaminic can be taken. Keep your body well moisturized.

Eat healthy. This would help. Take plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. Avoid fatty and fried stuffs. Avoid eggs and meat for some time.

You need to see a doctor to assess the extent of eczema.

Milder cases are managed by giving an anti-histaminic cream, like allegra ointment. This is to be applied over the affected area.

For severe cases, steroid creams are given.

Children are not given oral medications, unless necessary.

It started as an itch on my toes of my left foot, it looks as if I dipped the toes of my left foot in something and they came out red and with the texture of snake skin and itching terribly. Somehow the redness and bumpy skin like a snake had spread to many areas of my body like my upper back and arms and also the pigment of my legs has speckled white spots all over. Please help!

You need to go for a check up for exact diagnosis.

Likely to be chill bains due to exposure to cold.

You need to do two things, firstly, keep the affected area well moisturized. Secondly, keep it well covered to protect it from cold.

Also, you may start applying some mild steroid cream over the affected area, twice daily for a week.
