Gas in your tummy could be one reason for your symptoms.

After eating certain food, much of gas is produced in the stomach. This presses upon the diaphragm (musculature dividing the chest and abdomen) and gives hiccups.

Gas also produces burping. You may also get other symptoms like nausea and pain in abdomen.

Avoiding Gas

  • Eat and drink slowly. Taking your meals in a haste may make you ingest some air along with it.
  • Avoid fatty foods. Also limit foods which produce a lot of gas like beans, broccoli, cabbage etc.
  • Avoiding drinking and smoking. They would add to your symptoms.
  • Check constipation if any.
  • You may take some peppermint based medicine for relief. Antacids like gelusil may be taken 4 hourly till you get relief.

Do you have any other symptom like acidity, fever etc.? Let us know for further evaluation.
