Taking Care of Pimples on Forehead

Q: Hi, I’m 21 years old. I have noticed that acnes have grown on my forehead and shoulders. Rest of my body is alright; there are no pimples and acne. I wash my face thrice or even more a day. I also used Betamethasone to cure but failed. Here is a sample picture. It is not actually mine, but was taken from internet, though mine is same as this.

Betamethasone is a steroid and should be used in a restrictive manner. Don’t use it much. It may start giving its side effects.

It is common to have pimples in this age group. The cause is attributed to the sharp hormonal changes that naturally occur in this age. Some people have them on their face, some on their back, shoulders or else where.

From the picture, the pimples appear red and small. They are not infected. You may take care of them at home, without any medication.

Managing Pimples

  • Wash the affected areas very often. You don’t need to use any soap or gel, plain and clear water washes are adequate.
  • Eat more of fresh fruits and vegetables.
  • Drink a lot of water.
  • Avoid caffeinated beverages like tea, coffee, etc.
  • Avoid fried fatty stuff.
  • Eat less of greasy and heavy meals.
  • Apply non- medicated sandalwood paste on the affected area on a regular basis. Alternatively, calamine lotion may be applied.

Water is a natural cleanser. Observing the above care would help you clean your body from inside. Gradually, the pimples would go away.

The first step would be preventing the occurrence of pimples. For that, you need to do two things. Firstly, wash your face frequently and secondly, eat healthy.

Washing the face with gentle scrubbing is required to remove excess oily secretions and dirt from the skin. You may use a gentle scrub gel (like walnut scrub or orange peel scrub) for the purpose. These scrubs are gritty in texture and help scrubbing out dirt, dead cells and oily secretions from the face.

You need to eat healthy. Include plenty of seasonal fruits and vegetables in your diet. Restrict on fried or fatty food stuff. Also avoid taking excess of chips, biscuits and other junk foods.
