Dealing With Cyst of Lt. Ovary

Dear doctor, for a long time I had been treated for Ovarian Cyst, but no relief for me. And today I had a sonography that reported- ‘left adnexa shows large multi-cystic lesion with thick septation size 99 X 44mm- most probably arising from left ovary.’

The cysts are likely from the left ovarian tissue itself.

The treatment would depend upon your age and what symptoms you have.

Usually, such cysts are symptomless and benign in nature. They are common in women of reproductive age group. The cyst stay as such or may slowly reduce in size with each menstrual cycle to finally disappear.

However, one needs to keep a close watch over them. If they rupture, bleed or grow to attain big sizes, then intervention is required.

Doctors first try medicines to treat them. These primarily consists of some hormonal pills. If the cysts do not respond to them, surgical resection is considered. This may be done laproscopically.

Let us know what were your symptoms, age and what treatment have you tried till now.

Hi! Seven years before I had a serous cystedeno fibroma removed from my right ovary. After that I was fine. But recently I had undergone a laparoscopic surgery for my right ovarian serous cystadenoma. They have removed my right ovary as well as my Fallopian tube. My question is why I got it again. And my left ovary is healthy says the Dr. They have sent my left ovary sample for biopsy so it’s healthy. My question is, will my left ovary also get the cyst? I am taking metformin 1000mg. I am always scared. Help me.

Serous cystadenofibromas may sometimes be bilateral. So, your doctor has taken biopsy to check the other ovary. Also, such lesions may rarely turn malignant.

Continue taking metformin. This is a preventive medication against cyst formation.

I have a ultra sound report but don’t understand it really and would like your view on this. I have had a hysterectomy and removal of left ovary. But on ct scan showed I had a cyst on my right ovary. The ultra sound shows the cyst. It reads there is a large biloculated cyst in the right adnexae with some focal wall thickening measuring 68x48x41 mm (volume7.1cm3) the septae separating the locales is thin and no flow was detected when color Doppler applied thank you

Sir, my mom is 50 years old. In scanning report, the uterus is removed, left ovary is not identified. Left ovary shows a anechoic fluid filled cyst of size 30*30mm after 3 years of operation. What’s its reason or solution?

    Hi,
I had severe abdominal pains (cramp like) early June this year. I paid a visit to a Gynecologist who requested for a scan. The scan showed that I had an ovarian cyst on the left side measuring 8cm by 4.8 cm. I was put under some painkillers and was to repeat the scan later after three months. In the month of October I had my monthly period as normal on 10th. Subsequently after that on 18th, I noticed some spotting. It occurred for three days and it stopped. On 26th October still I started bleed and midnight this persisted till 31st.
I have been having backache pains, abdominal pains, am still bleeding, feeling nausea and frequent headaches. I could also not be able to hold in urine for long periods hence frequent urination.
I went back for a second scan on 1st November. The Sonographer told me that from the scan there’s no presence of a cyst in the left side but the right adnexa has free fluid. There was no feature of appendicitis and the urinary bladder is well distended with no lesion.
I also did a pregnancy test. The result come back negative.
My question is ; does this mean that the cyst is gone? What is the cause of the fluid and how do I get rid of the free fluid? Does it cause pregnancy issues in terms of conceiving? What’s is the preferred treatment.
    Thanks in advance.
    Betty.

Maybe you cyst ruptured, and that is why you have that fluid in the pelvic cavity!

Have you been to your gyne with this U/S report? What symptoms do you currently have?

In august and September I had a drop for my periods and in October I missed it completely. I visited the doctor and did U/S PELVIS then it reads uterus is normal in size, has homogeneous echotexture and regular outline. Endometrium has normal thickness and well outlined. There is a well circumscribed hypoechoic mass of uniform echotexture of size 53mm*33mm*26mm seen in the LIF. I am having pain on my left side.

You may be having some cyst in your left ovary. It’s likely to be infected.

You need treatment for it, as soon as possible. See a gyne for this.

Cysts are formed due to hormonal fluctuations in the body. This may have also causes missed menses.

I went for an ultrasound and it was discovered that I had a left ovarian cyst, measuring 4.8×3.2. I was placed on some drugs (doxycyclin, secnidazole, ciprofloxacin, PCM) after which I went for another ultrasound and discovered it has increased to 5.4×4.8 Please, what can be done because I’m really scared of going for a surgery.

Presence of a chocolate cyst indicates that there is some hormonal problem. Taking contraceptive pills is likely to stabilise the hormonal fluctuations.

Let us know your age, any kids, any other medical problem, like diabetes etc?

In most young patients, the cyst regresses on its own with medications, given for a period of 6 to 12 months. Surgery is not required.

Take rest. Avoid all strenuous activities. In many of such cases, the cyst may remain as such and not interfere with pregnancy. No intervention is needed.

Only if your doctor sees a increase in the size of the cyst, or notices active bleeding from it, she may need to intervene surgically.
