Blood Blister on Vagina

Blisters and pimples on the genitals are common.

A blood blister is usually due to some infection, it may be herpes or any other STD. So, they require examination by a doctor.

Causes of Blisters Beside Herpes

In girls who are not sexually active, a clogged sebaceous gland (or a pimple) may get filled with blood to form a blister.

This may occur due to:

  • Friction, from clothes or movements
  • Improper clothing
  • Stress or poor nutrition
  • Poor hygiene

Management

  • Firstly, wear loose clothing down there. Let your under clothing be of cotton fabric.
  • Avoid friction over the blister as far as possible.
  • Keep the area clean and dry. Clean it twice a day with plain water, no soaps.
  • Blisters usually subside on their own with time. If they become painful, apply mupirocin ointment over them.

I noticed a red blood blister on the inside lip of my vagina and it was kind of itchy and a little bit painful. After two days I noticed the middle started getting white, and now the whole thing is white and it is not pus. Is it infected? And it hurts pretty bad now. Especially to pee.

    1. Buddy M.D. Post author

Yes, this one appears infected. Try warm compress over it. This may help draining it. However, be gentle, do not force drainage.

You may start using a topical antibiotic cream over it. Mupirocin/ bacitracin etc. may be used.

Hi have what looks like a blood blister on the inner lip for several years now. I’ve had it looked at and my doctor said it was a blood mole? Lately it has gotten a little bigger and it popped. Now it will not stop bleeding. I’ve been tested and I’m clean so I am very confused on what this is.

Hi, I’ve been having excessive discharge the past 7 months and it tends to be yellowish color when seen on the panty liner. I was wondering what would that be? Bacterial vaginosis?
Also, i was going to have my “first time” with my boyfriend, but as he was trying to penetrate, there was a sharp pain down there. Could that be related to the discharge? Because I’ve been seeing redness inside the entrance of my vagina. Thank you

Over the painful ones, you may start applying an antibiotic ointment thrice a day, like mupirocin/ bacitracin.

But today, I saw a tiny dot of blood from the bump. What should I do? Do i have to press it and try to drain it? or should i simply clean/wipe with some betadin srub. I am quite worried.

I’m sexually active and got tested before and after I had been with my new partner. We had a lot of sex over 4 days. 2 days after he left I noticed a really really small blood blister looking like bump on the inner lip of my vagina. No pain at all or any other syptoms. Im really worried what it could be.. it’s a red purple tent and not really even raised.

If it’s a single lesion, it’s unlikely to be an infection. May be a clogged gland. You may leave it such as. Likely to regress on its own.

However, if it increases in size, becomes painful or multiplies in number, do let us know.

Unlikely to be ingrown hair, unless you shave over that area.

Blood blisters commonly arise from friction over skin surfaces. Just wearing lose and airy bottoms may solve the problem.

I have one very small blood blister right outside my left vagina opening that looks like a mole but is raised. It does not hurt or anything, it’s just there. It appeared last week a day after I had quite a lot of sex with my boyfriend, and it has been there for about 10 days now. Should I be worried? I’m really worried that this would be an STD but from what I know if that was an STD it should have manifested already ?

Hi I’m 34 years old and been married for 8 years. I do have herpes but rarely have outbreaks. I just had twins 6 months ago and I noticed shortly after I had them I got a blood blister on my vagina. I thought it was odd but figured maybe I somehow pinched it or something and it went away after a couple of weeks. Then about a month after that I got another one which again I thought was weird but a couple of weeks later it went away. And last week I found 3 of them down there!!! Now I’m really really worried! I have only had sex once since my twins were born, my clothes are never tight so I don’t understand why this keeps happening. There is no burning, itching, pain or foul smell. Any idea what is happening?

Since you’ve recently got kids, it’s likely that your body is depleted of essential nutrients. As the immunity declines, there are chances for Herpes to recur.

Eat healthy to boost up your immunity. If required, vitamin supplements may be taken.

Exact diagnosis requires a physical check up.

I have a single bump on my labia major. It is painful only if touched or rubbed. In this area there isn’t much hair and around it there is. I believe I irritated it while examining it and now it looks similar to a blood blister, itches slightly and almost feels like a small cut. Nothing comes out of it. I’ve been with the same partner for 4 years and I can’t imagine it being an STD but I’m not sure why it is painful and itches.

I’m in my early 40’s been married for 11 years and no std’s. My husband and I haven’t been intimate lately. I had a hysterectomy a few years ago due to anemia and heavy vaginal bleeding. I went to the bathroom first thing this morning and was surprised by blood pooling in the toilet. After examining, I found a reddish/purple/brownish bump on my labia that was bleeding profusely. It isn’t raised and I haven’t had any itching or pain. I didn’t even know the bump was there. It took a lot to get the bleeding stopped. It’s bled a few more times throughout the day when I’ve messed with it. I had my husband look and he says it looks like a blood blister. Any idea what’s going on?

Could have been a ruptured veins there. You may get sagged veins down there. This is more common in people to stand for long hours or strain at stools or work.

However, an exact diagnosis requires a physical exam. It’s advisable to get it checked up by a doctor.

I didn’t even feel it. But I just was worried if it was from shaving or something else. I don’t see a hair to where It could of been an I grow hair. I have many what looks like black raised blood blisters on my labia. I have previously had 1 or 2 and had a bleed from them at times. Then they don’t bother me anymore. So I was shocked to see so many yesterday. Some of them look like a bunch of cauliflowers. Obviously they have not been bothering me.
I am 59yrs old and have not had intercourse for approximately 4 years.
I only noticed the MANY blisters yesterday as I had pain in the area, felt like burning and hot (thought I would just check as I am allergic to Latex (anaphylaxis with ingestion) and had just worn a new swimsuit)
The pain and burning is still present, but this feels like the same burning when I have touched latex. I have taken my meds for allergy and also been using cold compresses to relieve the current burning/paining situation.

I have several “blood blisters” on my vagina. Some are small and some are bigger/more raised than others. This happened after a bad/aggressive Brazilian wax years ago. I am not sexually active and do not have any STDs. They do not itch or hurt but are not pleasant to look at and on rare occasion the larger ones will burst due to heat/humidity and rubbing. I do not wear tight clothing or underwear because of them and want to know if they can be cauterized so that they no longer show or bleed?

Yes, you may cauterize them, if you wist to. However, this is usually not required. They’ll regress on their own with time. You just need to avoid friction/ rubbing over them. You may apply any emollient to soothe skin out there. If any of them pains or grows in size, mupirocin antibiotic ointment may be smeared over it, twice daily.

I’ve had these little blood blisters for many many years, at least 10 years, started off as 1 then more just appeared, probably 5 or 6 now, completely on the outside. I do have a blood clotting disorder, and femoral and illiac veins are always clotted. I use to do cross fit, and told it could be from strain, I do not have an std, I am not currently sexualy active. But they been there for ever and it’d be nice when a partner is down there for them not to be there to cause questions and concerns. What can I do for treatment. They have never hurt, they get bigger and small at times but never have gone away.
