Is It Alright to Take Ayurveda and Allopathy Medications Together?

Q: Hello All. My mother is detected with HIV+ N CD4 80 and suffered from Gall bladder swelling and stone probably as dotcor said. But at the same time, she did not feel any severe pain in her abdomen. Doctor asked her to get operated, but due to her low CD4 we can’t. I want to start ayurvedic treatment for the same  but I am confused. Is it OK if we take both medicines together? Does it affect her body? Please reply.

There is no harm in trying out the ayurvedic medicine. Since she is not in pain, there is no urgency of operating her. You have time to try ayurveda.

As far as taking both the  drugs is concerned, nothing can be said with certainty. This would depend upon what medicines she has been prescribed. The exact compounds need to be known to comment.

Generally speaking, it is common for drugs to adversely interact with each other. So, taking many medicines together is never suggested.

Hi, I got aborted 1 month back due to a medical condition called Preeclampsia. Doctor has prescribed me Ecosprin 150 mcg and Raricap Combi. My mother insists me to take some ayurvedic medicines. Please suggest if I can take ayurvedic and allopathy medicine simultaneously.

It is always possible for two different medicines to interact with each other. Two allopathic medicines may interact adversely. Similarly, an ayurvedic pill may adversely interact with an allopathic one.

However, not all pills give adverse reactions. This depends upon the combination, their compatibility.

Let us know exactly which ayurvedic pill you want to take, so that we can make a specific comment on its interactions with the present allopathic medicines you are taking.

In general, ayurvedic medicines do not give any reaction when taken simultaneously with allopathic medicines. However, nothing can be said with certainty. It would depend upon what herb you are going to take.

Check it up with your ayurvedic doctor also.

Depends upon what ayurvedic formulation you want to take. In general, this is not recommended.

Once your pain subsides and you feel well, try physiotherapy. This would give you protection in a long run.

Sir, I have been diagnosed with high blood pressure 2 years back. I started taking amplores 5 as per doctors advis. I have changed my life style completely. Stopped drinking and non vegetarian and reduced my diet as well, also started doing regular walk of 6 km. Along with amlopres 5, I started muktavati which reduced my B.P. to 115/78, but then I developed anxiety and my doctor told me that I have problem of nutrition and I should take some food supplement. He is an allopathy doctor but he suggested me to take Geriforte by himalaya. I have just started taking and feeling better. I have stopped muktavati after using it for 2-3 months due to anxiety. I take geriforte tablets soon after the meal and then I have to take amlopres 5 as well, so how much difference I should keep between geriforte and amlopres.
    Thanks

Not recommended. Take one line of treatment at a time.

Also, drink plenty of water throughout the day to detoxify yourself. Consume lots of fruits and vegetables, the ones that suits you. Avoid excess spices, garlic, mushroom, eggs.

These are general steps to keep allergies away.

    Hi,
My mother in law has been diagnosed having breast cancer in the initial stage. She has been operated and had been through chemotherapy first session. With those alopathy medicine she has been taking some herbal tea that was prescribed by some other doctor who said it was OK to take with those medicine. She has been restless from the day she had chemotherapy done.
Is it OK to take both the medicines or should she take only alopathy medicine. Little bit confused.

If it’s just herbal tea, it’s alright.

Chemotherapy weakens the patient. She needs to drink plenty of water throughout the day when she receives chemo. Also, let her take a high protein diet, or may be a protein supplement may be added to her diet.

Not recommended. All these medicines are very potent and together become overdose. These may also interact adversely. Better choose one option at a time.

Hi, my son is detected with auto immunity encephalitis, so he is suffering from depression, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. He has a lot of cognitive impairment. He is studying in 10th, and is not able to write his board exam. He is taking allopathy treatment for 1and half years, and nothing works. Can e give mentact tablet along with his usual medicines? (Arpiprazol, 20mg,panitan, prodep10 mg,frizium 15mg)

Advised not to mix the two. Mentact is a very potent medicine and may interact with allopathic drugs. Preferably, it should be used alone.

But should we stop giving allopathic medicines and instead give mentact? Or can we give mentact after half an hour of giving allopathic medicines?(the latter is the method we follow usually)

My son has been diagnosed with bhronchitis and he is 6. D doctor prescribed an antibiotic named Bactoclav DS-457(5ml-0-5ml) and sidda medicine called Swasamrutham liquid (5ml-0-5ml) after food. Is it ok to combine both english n sidda medicines simultaneously? Plz advise as my mother in law insists i give both ( the doctor is her recommendation and he practises both ayurvedic and allopathy) and i have been advised from my paedriatrician neva to mix both treatments time n again.

Avoid mixing these two regimens. For now, let him take Bactoclav. This is an antibiotic and would help him recover from this acute illness. Once he has completely the course of antibiotic, say after 5 to 7 days as prescribed, you may stop it and switch to the sidda medicine.

Better not to mix these two medicines. You may take Feliz s Tablets and wait for the results. Avoid taking any other tablets/ syrups along with it. However, vitamin pills may be taken.

Also, avoid taking alcohol while on Feliz s tablets.

If you really want to attack the problem for its root, start with some meditation on a daily basis. You may choose any form, according to your religious background.

Understanding that the world is ruled and governed by GOD and not by us solve much of the problems. Resort to reading religious scriptures which explain the way the wold runs.

Well no, better not take these two medications together. Both of them are very potent and may interfere in their actions.
