Lump in Neck During Pregnancy

Q: I’m 11 weeks pregnant. I have cysts on the back of my throat ever since I got pregnant. Could it be a change in my hormones? My doctor said there is nothing to worry about but if they do pop can it harm the baby?

Are your thyroid levels alright?

It is recommended to get your thyroid levels checked up. The cyst might be related to this gland.

However, more commonly, such cysts are swollen lymphoid tissues. They are likely to remain as such. You need to keep a close watch over it throughout pregnancy. If it grows in size, medical intervention would be required.

Your doctor might consider draining it. There is nothing much to worry.
