You may go through the causes and treatment of Adnexal mass here.

Usually these are cysts and need to be investigated. Usually such cysts don’t interfere with the pregnancy. So you may continue with your pregnancy, while keeping a close eye on your cyst. Your doctor will watch for the growth of the cyst. If it grows in size or interfere with pregnancy, then appropriate steps would be required.

After successful pregnancy completion, your doctor will suggest further management according to the investigations at that time.

Medical Advice (Q&As) on “Right Adnexal Mass Detected During Pregnancy

It’ been two months since I found out I have an adnexal mass in my left ovary through an ultrasound check. I never went back for a review even though I was told to by the Doc. Now I’m seven weeks pregnant and I’m experiencing cramps in my lower abdomen and very sharp pain in my left lower abdomen where the mass is. Will the adnexal mass cause any harm to my pregnancy? Why am I feeling sharp pain there?

This would depend upon the nature of the adnexal cyst. Adnexal cysts are of many types, depending upon the tissue it is composed of.

Cysts caused by endometriosis are hormone responsive and may grow during pregnancy to cause problems. Some functional cyst may reduce on their own, and usually do not interfere with pregnancy.

It is suggested that you inform your symptoms to your gyne. The adnexal cyst needs close monitoring during pregnancy. We need to see its status and monitor its behavior. Is it hormone responsive, is it growing in size with pregnancy?

Adnexa refers to the structures lying just adjacent to the uterus. Normally, it includes the fallopian tubes, ovaries, ligaments and connective tissues.

During pregnancy, when the uterus is gravid, the adnexa is difficult to be explored and evaluated.

It would depend upon the nature of the cyst. A cyst that is responsive to hormones would grow or complicate with growing pregnancy.

You need not worry. Just keep a close watch on the cyst, each time you go for an U/S. If it grows in size, intervention would be needed.

I am 16 weeks pregnant. According to my ultrasound report, a well defined hypoechoic cyst of about 66.1×44.0mm seen in right adnexa. Does it create problem in my pregnancy or after delivery?

The cyst is unlikely to create any problem during your pregnancy. Still, it is recommended you keep a close watch on it by routine U/S follow ups. If they grow in size, your doctor needs to be informed.

I got 13 week pregnant this week. I got an ultrasound. The report says that there is a cyst seen in the right adnexa. It suggests that simple cyst is seen in the right ovary measuring 3.1×2.9cm and placenta is all round. In the ultrasound, I have not seen baby. So which side is my baby implanted? I mean to say right side or left side.

Your baby is very small right now. Still, your doctor, who did the U/S, must have seen the baby. You may ask him about where the baby was located.

Hi am 5 weeks pregnant and from ultrasound the doc said I have a normal corpus leutum cyst of 30×32mm on my right ovary, left ovary is free. Adnexae is normal. What does this mean

      All findings are normal.

It’s normal and essential to have a corpus luteal cyst during pregnancy. This is the site from where the egg was released and got fertilized when it entered the tube.

The remaining cyst produces estrogen and progesterone, necessary for the maintenance of pregnancy.
