Warmth and Burning Feeling in the Arm

Q: My arm hurts and becomes red warm to touch. I have numbness in my fingers. If you rub my arm you can feel some little lumps, swelling and burning feeling. Now my face is red hot to touch. What do you think I have? I had carpel tunnel long time ago. So I would like to know if it is really something to worry about. Thanks.

You need to get examined by a doctor to reach an exact diagnosis of your problem.

From what you have described, it appears that there is some obstruction in the flow of lymph or blood in your arm.

Lymphatic channels carry a fluid called lymph from various organs into the blood. When any of these channels become blocked, the patient observe a tightness in the affected part.

Commonly Perceived Symptoms

  • Tightness in the affected part
  • Burning sensations
  • Lumpiness over the skin surface
  • Itchiness
  • Numbness in fingers due to nerves being pressed by the obstructing swelling

A thorough examination would reveal if there are chances of any blockage. Do you have any lump or gland in your armpit or breast? Read on about lumps under the armpit.

Another possibility is that, there is some localized superficial skin reaction, may be allergy or skin infection. A physical exam is essential in your case.
