Problem With Suboptimal Antibiotic Treatment of Chlamydia

Q: I’m an 18 year old female. I have recently been diagnosed with chlamydia and a UTI, and was treated. I went back for a check up after a week. That time I was free of STD, but I still had bacteria. So they gave me pills to help. I am done with those pills for about a week now and I haven’t had sex. But now I’m experiencing irritation, itchiness, dryness, redness and a brownish discharge, as if I was dirty? It burns when I try to wash down there too. What’s wrong with me? I plan on seeing a gynecologist real soon, but I’m really worried that it might be something not curable.

Chlamydia can give a brownish discharge. Is the discharge smelly? Infective discharges are often smelly.

May be the treatment you received was not adequate for your infection. You may require more antibiotics. All your symptoms appear to be because of the infection.

UTI’s are very common in women. Read here about some preventive steps to avoid UTI.
