Serum Estradiol Test

This test measures the level of the female hormone estradiol (estrogen) in blood.

The hormone is secreted by the ovary under influence of FSH, a hormone secreted by the pituitary.

Estradiol is a hormone responsible for normal sexual development of a female.

When Is the Test Done?

It is done when we want to know if the ovaries are able to produce enough hormone for functioning.

    • So, in all disorders of ovary, ovarian cyst etc.
    • Work up for infertility
    • Evaluating puberty or menstrual disorders
    • Malignancies of genital organs like the ovary

Normal Values

The test results are interpreted according to the reference range levels. The normal values are:

Male: 10 to 50 picograms per milliliter (pg/mL)
Female (premenopausal): 30 to 400 pg/mL
Female (postmenopausal): 0 to 30 pg/mL

    and what can I do to increase which ever one that is not okay?

      It is suggested that you visit our lab checker. Put the test values in the search box one by one to see which one is not normal. Also access the probable conditions that may lead to that particular abnormal value.

      Your FSH and LH values appear to be alright. It’s difficult to comment on the other three values. It would depend upon the phase of your menstrual cycle, when that reading was taken. That is, the hormonal levels are different and keep changing throughout the menstrual cycle.
