A Case of Post-coital Vaginal Bleeding
Q. My girl friend, who is 20 years old, had her LMP on March 14. Then we had sex on April 1 and after that we used a condom. But she said it was very painful; it might actually be a trauma. Lately in the morning she has been experiencing nausea and vomiting, leg pains and burning in the pelvic area. After 2-4 days, she experienced bloating like heaviness in her body. She also noticed a little lump on her armpit near her breast. That time, she got her urine test that showed a presence of RBC of about 2-3 HPF.
Then after she got spotting, her doctor prescribed medications like norethindrone and vitamins. She had a low hemoglobin. She was delayed by 4 days and had a beige colored vaginal discharge. Her breast was hurting, when touched. She has also been experiencing nausea, vomiting and headache. We had a pregnancy test and the result was negative. Could she be pregnant? And why is she experiencing nausea and vomiting for 2 weeks?

No, it’s unlikely for her to be pregnant. She has already got the pregnancy test done, which is negative. So you can be rest assured that she is not pregnant.
There can be more than one reasons for her symptoms.
She may have endometriosis. This is a condition where the endometrial tissue occurs in some other of the body than the uterus. Usual symptoms of such condition are abnormal bleedings, pain (after sex), nausea. The medicine she has been prescribed (Norethindrone) is the treatment of this disease.
Norethindrone is in a class of medications called progestins. It works by stopping the lining of the uterus from growing and by causing the uterus to produce certain hormones.
Another condition can be the presence of ovarian cysts. Such patients show symptoms of nausea, vomiting after sex.
If her symptoms stay, I would suggest you to get her evaluated by a Gynecologist. She is already anemic, so such blood losses are not good.
Meanwhile, let her relax. The lump in the armpit needs to be observed.
Norethindrone can have some side effects like changes in menstrual flow, enlarged or tender breasts, upset stomach, weight changes, difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep, acne.
