Blockage of Fallopian Tube Due to Septic Abortion

Q: When I was 14yrs, I did an abortion. That time, I was given an injection to stop water from my breast because the pregnancy was 5 months. Now I have a small breast and unable to bear children. What can I do for my breast to be big, apart from pumping. I am 30 years old.

There can be many reasons for not being able to bear children. Both, you and your husband need to get evaluated by a doctor.

Your husband needs to be checked for the following:

  • Sperm count
  • Motility of sperm

You require a full gynecology check up. There may be some structural problem in the uterus or the fallopian tubes. It needs to be assessed whether the ovary is producing eggs in a normal way or not.

Abortions done at home can be dangerous. They are often septic, that is, the women infects her reproductive organs during the procedure.

Such infections may lead to the formation of fibrous tissue and adhesions in the fallopian tube. Hence the tube gets blocked.

It is this tube which carries the egg from the ovary (where it is produced) to the uterus (where it is implanted). Fertilization of the egg with the sperm takes place in the tube.

Quite possibly, your tubes are blocked due to any infection after the abortion.

You may get checked up by a doctor. There are treatments available for such conditions.

The reason for having small breast also need to be investigated. It may be some hormonal problem.

One tube is enough to conceive a child.

There can be other reasons affecting fertility. Your hormonal levels, stress levels, daily diet, all play a role in this matter.

It’s better to see a gyne for examination.
