Digestion Problem May Mimic Pregnancy Symptoms

Q: Hello, I am an 18 years old female. I had protected sex on February 2nd, 2013. On February 5th, I had my period for the whole 7 days and it was regular. It is now March 11th. A couple of days before; I got sick. I was throwing up all day and couldn’t eat anything, until the next day. I thought I vomited what I ate the day before. The next day I was fine, and I was really skinny like 6 pack. Then I ate a really big meal and my stomach was huge because I was full. But since then, my stomach hasn’t gone down and I am worried. I can suck in my stomach but feels uncomfortable because it’s not relaxed. However when I do relax my stomach it sticks out a lot. When I roll my hand down my stomach, it’s flat. But towards the lower stomach near my belly button and to the sides it’s inflated. Then, when I pass it, it’s fine. When I lay to one side it’s like everything in my stomach goes to one side and after a while it starts to hurt. Then my belly button starts to hurt as well. Is there a reason for this? Could I be pregnant? Or is this a digestion issue? I don’t have any pregnancy symptoms- breasts don’t hurt. Neither I am tired nor getting sick anymore nor having frequent bathroom trips. Please help.

It doesn’t sound like a pregnancy. It is more likely to be a digestion problem after having a huge meal. Give it time, it will get better.

It is always better to start with small light diets after phases of fasting, as you had. This is so because, our already disturbed tummy is unable to manage larger loads at a time.

The best way to rule out pregnancy would be a home pregnancy test. You may go for one to be sure.

    Hi,
I’m 45 years old. My period stopped completely on February 2017. Since then until now I didn’t have any period. It happened in the past also. The last intercourse was on 26 August 2017. But seeing that I put little by little weight (since July 2017 until now 9 kg), I started to think maybe I’m pregnant and I made 6 tests at home each month since August. All negative. On 3 January I made an urine test at the medical centre I’m registered, also negative. I expressed my desire to have a blood pregnancy test but the nurse totally refused and told me continuously that I’m not pregnant. I don’t crave anything, I don’t vomit, I’m tired but I have hypothyroidism and diabetes type 2 and I always had ups and downs with my mood.
I even feel waves in my abdomen, kicks and I don’t know what exactly happens. I am confused and don’t know what to do. Please help me with an advise. Thank you

Yes on 30 January. I don’t know the levels but the doctor called me and told me that the results of my thyroid and diabetes are satisfactory (since the age 28 I have hypothyroidism and diabetes since 2013) and I continue to take 100 micrograms levothyroxine and iron (I have anemia for many years), and no pills for my diabetes since October 2017 (I was taking Metformin 3 pills/day).
Also, when I made the urine test with the nurse, I told her that I want to have an ultrasound. But she refused me repeating to me to take my mind away from this thought because I’m not pregnant.
Because I feel often these movements in my belly, like waves, even I had a kick in the left side of my stomach, I don’t know what really happens and this thing causes me a lot of anxiety.
I don’t have constipation but sensitive bowel, lower back pain (but it could be from a bad mattress). I don’t have changes on my breast (color) or pain or tenderness.
But I choke sometimes when I eat nervously and I feel the food stuck in my esophagus for enough time.
I know that a woman can have fake pregnancy symptoms.
If it’s not pregnancy, what else could be ?
Please tell me what to do. I can’t find my inner peace not knowing what happens to my body.
        Thank you.

I really am confused with this situation.

There’s one more common reason of having such symptoms in woman of your age group. And that is simple electrolyte deficiencies, as you become less careful about what food you take. Taking some electrolyte supplement or drink for some time may help.

Okay so i had sex February 11 , it was PROTECTED sex. I got my period the 27th of that month, full and heavy 7 day cycle. I began to scare myself by reading posts about women who have claimed to get their periods and STILL be pregnant. My period has never been late and i got it RIGHT ON TIME after having sex. But now ive been feeling weird, my breasts are NOT sore nor tender, but i have been feeling very bloated with random stomach pains on the very top of my stomach, i believe it could be indigestion but i just wanna rule out the pregnancy option. I have been having bad stomach aches and a little bit of dizziness but i recently got my prescription on my glasses changed so that my play a role. I havent had any morning sick ess or any pregnancy symptoms but i am still scared.

May be a temporary disturbance with hormones. Nothing needs to be done. Wait for a few cycles and let the problem subside on its own. Staying relaxed may help.
