Multiple Cysts of Internal Organs and Body Parts

Q: I am a 50 years old female, living in southeast of England. In 2004, I was diagnosed with liver cysts- the largest being the size of a galia melon. Aspiration by a curious surgeon activated the cyst to grow from tennis ball size, after which it became systemic. In June 2010, an attempt to remove it at Kings College Hospital failed and I was told nothing could be done for me. The main cyst continues to grow and smaller ones also. My liver has grown and now presses on my heart, lungs, diaphragm and stomach. Now I struggle to breathe, which limits my mobility having farmed all my life. Other cysts have appeared in my limbs and ovaries. And on Wednesday 27th Feb 2013, they were diagnosed in my throat. That time I felt an obstruction and pain. I choke upon swallowing. I have been told that I am just a cysty type of person. I am scared they will grow in my heart, lungs or brain next. Is this possible?

What is the nature of these cysts? When your surgeon aspirated it and took out its contents, what did he say about the nature of the fluid or cells in the cysts. Were they cancerous or benign. This is very important to know.

What Is a Cyst?

A cyst is a sac like structure filled with liquid, semi-liquid, semisolid or even gaseous materials at times. They are something like blisters on the skin. Just like a blister is benign and nothing needs to be done for it; similarly for a benign cyst, nothing is done till it grows in size, gets infected or complicates in any other way.

However, there must be some reason why these cyst appear. Like you get a blister after some burn or allergy etc.

Having a few cysts is usual, but since you are getting many of these, the cause of having so many cysts needs to be investigated.

Probable Causes of Cysts in Liver, Ovary Etc.

    • Any chronic infection – Do you have any low-grade fever, pain in abdomen etc.
    • Allergy to certain food
    • Hormonal changes, since you are around menopause
    • Any systemic inflammatory condition
    • Some parasitic infection
    • Tumor

Hydatid cysts or echinococcosis is a common cause of cysts that involve multiple body organs. It is caused by a parasitic tapeworm called Echinococcus granulosus.

You need a thorough check up. Blood work needs to be done to see any sign of infection, hormonal levels, differential leukocyte count. Some clue would surely come out. The underlying disease that’s causing these cysts needs to be treated.

Have you observed any other symptom in your body? If any, report it to your doctor.

Helpful Measures and Precautions

Meanwhile, the following care would certainly help you:

  1. Add plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet.
  2. Restrict on fried fatty food stuff.
  3. Consider eating more of vegetarian food. Cysts are commoner in population who consume non-vegetarian food. If possible, shift to vegetarianism for your treatment.
  4. Drink lots of water.
  5. Try exercising and staying physically active. It’s understandable that it’s difficult at this moment. However, even while lying down on bed, try moving your limb and different joints.
  6. You may consider buying a massager that focuses on better circulation and release of toxins.
  7. Add any probiotic in your diet. Home made yogurt would be the best.

Take Care,

I am a 37 year old female. I have had a few medical issues but overall in ok health. At about age 22, I was having severe headaches that lasted weeks, when one sent me to the ER. After a CT scan and MRI was conducted they diagnosed me with a brain cyst that is inoperable due to location in the middle of my brain resting close to the spinal cord. It is monitored yearly with no growth to date. After having difficulty conceiving my son I finally had him at 23. I found a different OB/GYN doctor and was finally diagnosed with PCOS, and why it was so hard to diagnosed is that I was not overweight like most people are. So again more cyst. At around age 27 my knees were in extreme pain, after going to doctor I was sent for imaging, a CT and MRI. Diagnosis was cyst under knee caps. Around 29 years of age I had to have surgery to remove cysts off ovaries. So some time goes by at age 35 more cyst appeared on my ovaries and since I had a horrible pregnancy, going into labor at 26 weeks, having my son at 29 weeks gestation after 3 weeks laying in a hospital bed unable to do much activity due to a bulging membrane, an emergency cesarean to deliver him because I could no longer hold him and was hemorrhaging, after delivery and being sent home for 2 weeks I was placed back into the hospital with blood clots in my uterus, sepsis, had my cesarean ripped back open with a long q-tip with no pain meds, I was left for my cesarean to be flushed daily with saline and covered with a pad to heal from the inside out, this was done after healing for 2 weeks and had my staples removed for about a week, I almost did not make it out of that horrible sickness. After healing from the second round of being hospitalized, I found out I had a incompetent cervix. After many failed attempts of trying to conceive again, I found out my cesarean had grown so much scar tissue that my Fallopian tubes had been destroyed, also, with multiple precancerous cells with Pap smears with biopsys, I was recommended to have a complete hysterectomy, which I followed through and had surgery. Fast forward 2 years after that I just wasn’t feeling myself. Returned to my general practitioner, she ordered a complete blood screening for everything including hormones. Those test came back good on everything but estrogen which was close to none, testosterone was low and vitamin D was low. I started the HT with the Biote pellets, vitamin D, progesterone, and the Biote Dim, which includes; starch, diindolylmethane, Vitamin E, phosphatidylcholine and silica. I’ve had them in for approximately 2 months, with a booster added, due to more blood tests done since the first insertion, which resulted in estrogen and testosterone levels not exactly where they needed to be. 3 days ago I found a lump in my right breast. I have since gone to the doctor. She is doing the necessary screening to rule out anything cancerous, but while I wait she said she feels that it is more likely to be fibrocystic breast disease. So she suggested I take primrose and vitamin e for now and until imaging is done and results are back. My question is, could there be anything else that could be causing all these cyst problems to keep appearing and in different areas of my body? I am not obese, just a few pounds heavier since the hysterectomy, but have really been a petite woman all my life, I get basic excersise, but do not work out or walk, I try to eat healthy most of the time, I do not take anything but the medicine listed above except for the occasional Aleve PM for helping with sleeping. I rarely get sick with colds or the flu. I’ve received all my basic immunizations. I was a smoker of 23 years, but no longer smoke. I do drank a cup of coffee every morning. Rarely do I consume alcohol. I live in a newer construction home, prior to this home not any lead or asbestos was ever found, so I wouldn’t think anything environmental. My family has no history of anything close to any of these cyst problems. I do not have any acne problem or any skin cyst, just an occasional pimple. I had my tonsils and adenoids removed at the age 14. I have no major dental problems. If you have anymore questions or need more details, please ask. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read and possibly find an answer for me. Again, my main question is there a cause, underlying problem, or any concerns? Also, if there is something found, could you please recommend what I may need to do or what to ask my general practitioner?

From the detailed history given above, it appears unlikely that the different cysts are related. They may be taken as caused by different pathologies and treated accordingly.

I WAS TOLD IN JULY 2020 THERE ARE CYST WITH INFLAMATION ON MY BLADDER, PANCREAS AND A GROWTH ON MY LUNG AT 3.5. IS THERE A DOCTOR OR RESEARCH CENTER THAT COULD/WOULD BIOPSY ALL 3 AND PROVIDE INFORMATION ON THE CAUSE AND TREATMENT? i HAVE HAD BLOOD IN MY UUINE FOR THE PAST 11 MONTHS WHILE ON ANTIBIOTICS. I am 75 years old, however i do well except from pain in many areas which isn’t helped by medications. Most of the pain seems to come from activity, since I also have 2 fractures in the spine.

There’s a strong possibility that these cysts are related and erupt due to a common cause. However, current medical knowledge is unclear about the disease mechanism.

Are those cysts bothering you in any way? Are they growing in size or number?

If not, you may leave them as such. No medical intervention required.
