Fits in Children
Q: Dear doctor, when my daughter was 2 years old, we observed a fit that lasted about 5 seconds. It repeated twice in the same year. So we brought her to a Neuro doctor who examined her and obtained brain CT scan. Everything was unremarkable. Doctor told us that there is nothing to worry, since during brain development such a thing may happen. Doctor gave some medicines for 3 months. Now she is 9 years old. Since last 6 years, we did not observe any symptom of seizure. She is OK. Is there any follow-up required?
Reply:
It’s good that she is alright. As such follow-up is not required and it’s very unlikely that seizures would happen now.
However, it would be better if you keep her under close observation for 3 to 4 years more, till she enters her teens.
