Safe Periods and Avoidance of Pregnancy

Q: I did sex with my girl friend without protection after 14 days of her period. Is it possible for her to get pregnant?

Yes, she may get pregnant if she’s not taking any pills or any other method of contraception.

Making sex on the safe days is a natural way of avoiding pregnancy.

Safe Days

The first day of bleeding is considered day one of the menstrual cycle. Days 1 to 7 are considered safe. Again, day 21 to rest of the cycle are also safe.

Hi! I had an unprotected sex with my boyfriend 1 hour ago. Can I take a morning after pill within 12 hours?

Is it alright to take it even if my last day of menstruation is yesterday?

I mean I had my period last April 27 and we had sex today May 4, will that be alright?

    Thanks in advance.

You appear to be in your safe periods (Read above). So, it is likely that you are not at risk to become pregnant.

You may still take the pill. These pills are hormones taken in high doses. Though nothing is 100% effective, these pills are most effective when taken within 12 hours of intercourse (around 95%). However, the effect usual last for another 12 hours (around 85% effective).

You may get some side effects after you take the pill. They include- nausea, vomiting, headache, gastric upsets and mood swings.
